What makes ECS different?
We are a group of experienced patients, caregivers, licensed professionals and advocates. This is not just our hobby this is our passion!
ECS was founded by Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Melanie Dillon and Cannabis Clinician Kalee Hooghkirk. With an emphasis on alternative wellness and professional cannabis experience, ECS provides a compassionate approach to innovative and non-invasive healthcare options that promote both physical and mental well-being.
While we know there are many places you can get your medical cannabis card we truly believe in creating open lasting relationships with our patients. We are a full service facility that specializes in utilizing your current resources and providing education beyond application assistance. This is a benefit because our process is more cost-effective for the patient and helps to expand the awareness of the current medical program. Don't worry though, we do have cannabis friendly partners who are willing to see you if your physician is not understanding!

Melanie Goto Dillon has been in private practice since 1993 as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor. She is certified nationally by the National Board of Counselor Certification. She co founded Center for Wellness Counseling & Education and enjoyed helping patients work through grief, loss and other mental health challenges. However, over the years the need for mind and body services working together kept coming up. In 2012 she was happy to co found Center for Wellness Inc, with Dr. Jon Engstrom, DC. Together they built a thriving practice providing mind and body services in one location. Seeing first hand the relief patients experienced from having their entire system supported was extremely gratifying.
Always interested and exploring new ways to better help patients, she was intrigued by the claims coming out of Colorado about medical cannabis and CBD. While fascinating, it still seemed unethical to promote something so addicting, as wellness. When a dispensary opened in Mundelein, she was compelled to learn more. Having spent most of her life on the 'other side' fighting for the War on Drugs, to those who know her she was the most unlikely champion for cannabis medical or adult use. Life is funny though... Upon learning about the Endocannabinoid System, finding out Who holds the patent on cannabis and learning how cannabis and cannabinoids work as medicine, Melanie was shocked to find the lies behind the majority of her training and education. Striving to be ethical and honest in all she does, particularly in patient care, it became clear that she HAD to do something to change this campaign of misinformation. She is now a Certified Holistic Cannabis Practitioner through the Holistic Cannabis Academy. https://zk410.isrefer.com/go/hca/md21
Setting out to right wrongs, Melanie was inspired to DO SOMETHING. It was unconscionable to think that so many patients could have found safe, natural relief for their suffering, but were prohibited and misled. Through the support and encouragement from her existing network and the new network in the medical cannabis community, Melanie merged it all together in the idea of ECS. This is only the beginning.

I am Jillian and I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist! I absolutely love what I do. I always knew growing up that I wanted to help people and make them happy. After going to school with no real direction, something told me to try massage therapy school. Even though I had never had a professional massage in my life, my intuition said that it was where I was meant to be! I enrolled in the program and the College of Lake County and it was the best decision of my life. I met so many beautiful people along the way, and uncovered amazing things about myself that I would have never known were there had I not gone through the program. I also learned how important it is to take care of yourself not just physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. I believe Massage Therapy grounds us and gives us if only an hour away from the stress and commotion of our everyday lives and sometimes even just that hour can bring us back to center. We hold our emotions and our stresses in our body so if our body starts to feel good then our minds will start to feel good and vise versa. Everything within us is connected and it's important to remember that when taking care of ourselves. It's a beautiful gift that I've been given and I hope to be able to share it with as many people in my lifetime as possible. Being a Massage Therapist gives meaning to the phrase "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life".
Sarah received her massage therapy license through the College of Lake County in Grayslake in 2016. She is also a certified nurse assistant as well as a licensed cosmetologist. Sarah enjoys gardening, and traveling as well as medicinal herbs and native plants.
